Pointes of Pride

  • Save the date to celebrate North's 50th at the Green and Golden Gala on May 4th
  • Grosse Pointe South is proud to announce that the National High School Athletic Coaches  Association (NHSACA) has selected Grosse Pointe South Varsity Baseball Coach Dan Griesbaum, as one of eight national finalists for National Coach of the Year.  Finalists are invited to the National Conference in late June where an executive board will determine the prestigious National      Coaches of the Year award. Coach Griesbaum has a long list of accolades:  Over 800 career wins, 8 Final Fours, and two State Championships (2001, 2018) and has been the Head Coach at South for the last 35 years.  South is proud of this great accomplishment!  Congratulations to Coach Dan Griesbaum.  

 

Have a Kindergarten or Young Five student next fall - establish/verify residency now

It is critical that families establish or verify residency by May 1st if they have a student entering GPPSS next fall, particularly for kindergarten and Young Fives. Click here to see the pre-enrollment process (step one) and the residency documents (step two) required by board policy.  Call 313-432-3083 if you have questions or need an appointment outside the enrollment office hours of 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday.

Skilled Trades Night February 26

Grosse Pointe Public Schools will be hosting our first annual Skilled Careers Trades Night on Tuesday 2/26 from 6:30-8:30 pm in the North Gym. A variety of trades will have tables set up to tell you what specific training is required and how to get started. Careers in the trades can have starting salaries that range from $40,000-80,000 per year. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn more!

 

Don't miss your chance for a Date with a Devil
A Date with the Devil, Grosse Pointe South's popular fundraising event is back! All are welcome to join us for a fun night out on February 9, 2019 at the Belle Isle Casino with food, drinks, DJ, auctions and more. Organized by The Mothers' Club Parent Organization, all proceeds will support scholarships and enrichment for students as well as preservation of South's historic building. North Class of 2021 Style Spectacular fundraiser invites girls in K-5
All K-5th grade girls in North feeder schools are cordially invited to attend an evening of beauty fit for a princess on February 7, 2019. North Class of 2021 is hosting the North Style Spectacular. All princesses will have their hair, nails and makeup done and walk down the runway while paparazzi take their photos. Form with $20 payment. Space is limited and there is no admission at the door. Save the date 3/2 for #OneGP Parent Camp: Embracing Community 

#One GP Parent Camp is a Grosse Pointe Public School System program for parents, supported by The Family Center, CARE of Southeastern Michigan, and Beaumont Hospital. Topics include: social media, cultural competency, leader-in-me, bullying, suicide prevention, anxiety, trauma, unconscious bias, vaping, special education, early intervention, and more.

Board of Education meets Monday

The January 28th board meeting was cancelled due to the snow day. The next regular meeting is 7 p.m., Monday, February 11, in the Brownell Multi-Purpose Room (MPR).
