GPPSS On Pointe: Bring a Friend to Info Nights

By Rebecca Fannon, GP Schools January 4, 2019

Pointes of Pride

  • Monteith Student Council has been making spirits bright from supporting #teamjake to making wreaths for HELM (formerly SOC - Services for Older Citizens) to help bring them a smile for the holidays
  • Rotary of Grosse Pointe donated 180 coats to children within GPPSS. If you know a Rotarian, thank them for their "service above self."
  • Trombly students in Susan Howey's class have been working so hard for the past 2 months, during the school day, after school, and even on a Saturday at the Parcells Craft Fair! They've made over $1,000 in sales, and donated $500 to various charities (MARL, COTS, American Red Cross, Trombly Angel Fund)! They have also connected with the community, by having Mrs. Durand (of El's Boutique) work with us as their business mentor.
  • In case you missed it over the break, the Grosse Pointe News had two great articles in the 12/20 issue - one on an Improv program at Pierce, and another on Challenge Day at North.

Do you know a student who might be interested in our Upcoming Info Nights?

Calendar

Some have asked why GPPSS returned to school on Wednesday. The state increased the number of days of instruction districts are required to provide. Depending upon where holidays fall, this can result in shorter breaks than in past years. The calendar for 2019-2020 is not yet set.

Second notice Flyers are moving to Peachjar

At the start of this new year we are transitioning to Peachjar - a mobile friendly platform for non-profit flyers used by many of our peer districts. This replaces our online posting on the website, and makes community events more accessible to our families at a nominal fee for non-profits.

IMPORTANT: If you do not wish to be included in the email list for Peachjar, please click here to unsubscribe from Peachjar ONLY by TODAY Friday, January 4. This will not unsubscribe you from our emergency notifications. Filling out the simple form will prevent GPPSS from sharing your email with Peachjar for flyer notifications that will be used by our schools and groups as well as local nonprofits (what you used to see in backpacks before we went green). You can also check it out first and unsubscribe at any time.

War Memorial hosts 9th and 10th grade dance 1/25
On Friday, January 25, Grosse Pointe War Memorial is hosting a Freshman and Sophomore Dance at The War Memorial. The event was created out of the popular demand for their middle school dances, but is geared towards 9th and 10th graders in the school system. Information pertaining to the event can be found here. (this is the sort of event that will be part of the new mobile-friendly flyer system)
