Fight Like a Girl Walk for Amber

October 10, 2013
EASTPOINTE - Amber is 12 years old and battling a rare form of childhood cancer called Anaplastic Ependymoma which targets the brain and spinal cord. This is an aggressive cancer with no known treatment plan. Her story began 6 years ago with one seizure and a visit to the Emergency Room which revealed a lesion on her brain. She endured radiation treatments and underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor. A year ago the cancer returned, this time in her spinal cord. Again, she had surgery to remove one of two tumors from her back. Sadly, it has returned to her brain and she is awaiting the call to travel from Michigan to St. Jude's Hospital in Tennessee to participate in a clinical trial.

Please consider making a donation to assist Amber and her family with travel and medical expenses

    •    While it is not mandatory in order to participate in the walk, we do encourage that all participants attend the 9:30 service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church prior to the walk so that we can lift Amber up in prayer.

    •    Please feel free to create your own poster or sign to carry with you on the walk to let others in on what we’re doing (i.e. Let’s Help Amber Kick Cancer, Kids Kicking Cancer, Amber We Love You, We can beat childhood cancer, etc.). Be creative!
